Data shredding: a deep dive into SharePoint 2013 storage architecture

SharePoint evolved massively over past 13 years. Grew up and gone mature. Most of the time, all the nice and nifty features like WCM, ECM, Search & Co. are in focus of discussing new things and improvements, and setting expectations for the coming versions of the product. Even more often we are forgetting about the improvements on the basic product architecture, the hidden features that are basically carrying the weight of the product on their back. One of them is the storage architecture. Although not visible at the first sight, it grew mature and it significantely improved along with the rest of the product. In this session we will go trough this process, cover improvements made in the latest version and look back at the storage architecture evolution. We will talk a big deal about Shredded Storage and what performance and capacity improvements it is bringing to the SharePoint platform.
